About Us…

We never intended to get caught up in “corporate America”. When we married in 1996 our vision was of a simple, rural lifestyle. Neither of us has a college degree and we were both working entry-level jobs when we got married. Over the years our jobs turned into “careers” and began to consume our lives. As we moved up through the ranks in the company we strayed farther and farther from our “simple, rural life”. The money was plentiful and it continued to come. Unknowingly, unintentionally we were being sucked in.  It didn’t happen overnight….. It happened over the course of 15 years. It’s funny though, God has a way of getting  your attention and bringing you back to where He wants you. The company we work for did a pretty significant reduction in force in September of 2011 and my husband’s position was eliminated. To say we were shocked would be the understatement of the century. But once I finished being hurt, angry, overwhelmed etc….. I began to feel so thankful. It’s a new opportunity for us to focus on what’s really important in life and to get back to our original vision of a simple, rural life. Yeah…..sometimes I still wear my Gucci sunglasses while putting up fence or building compost bins, but hey, who said you couldn’t have a little style on the farm?

My husband is currently pursuing a career as an RN. He’s always been interested in nursing and with the change to his employment status, we figured now was as good a time as any. He’s currently a full-time student and we’ve decided to scale back our lifestyle to accommodate life on a single income.

We still love travel & antiquing. We are just finding new ways of “affording” our addictions. Life is an adventure………sometimes you have to get creative!
